a.) You will be emailed to schedule an online meeting, Part 2 of your Application, with a member of our mentoring staff. Parent(s)/Guardian(s)/Teacher(s) is/are welcome to attend.
b.) Do some math. Try any unsolved problem (or two) in mathematics for 1+ hours (see next step). Click here for some examples of unsolved problems in mathematics. Click here for some tips on doing mathematics research. Your goal: to try to figure anything out and to have fun!
c.) Log in to the mentor's virtual office at the scheduled time. The purpose of the meeting will be 1.) to test your system, 2) to give you (and your parent(s)/guardian(s)/teacher(s), if applicable) a chance to ask questions about the camp, and 3.) to talk about the problem(s) you chose in the previous step (e.g. any ideas you had, did you enjoy the challenge?, etc.).
NB We will need to test your web cam and headset microphone, in particular. If you do not have one or both yet, see Step 3 on conditional acceptance and Step 4 on re-testing.
Step 3 - You may be accepted/conditionally accepted!
Our admissions process is selective and rolling.
NB We are seeking participants who 1.) love math and 2.) want to commit to spending 6 weeks in serious mathematical activity.
Step 4 - Re-test your system, if necessary.
If your system was not adequate in Step 2, but you were conditionally accepted, you will be emailed to schedule another online meeting to re-test your system.
